Imam Khomeini (RA) was a source of inspiration for the Arab masses to get rid of their despotic western-backed regimes, according to a prominent Germany-based Palestinian activist.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The head of the Society for Humanitarian Support of Palestinians (GHUP), Izzeddin Musa, stressed in an interview  on Saturday that the 1979 Islamic revolution, led by Imam Khomeini, was the much-needed 'spark' for what he labeled 'the 30-year-old Arab intifada' which ultimately resulted in the overthrow of several reactionary Arab regimes.

What we witness today in the Arab world, is an end to western-supported Arab dictators and western hypocrisy. It took 30 years for it to happen but it did. The patience of the Arab people with their despotic regimes have finally reached its limit,' Musa said.

Imam Khomeini was a light of hope for all the people of the Middle East. He was a unique personality who has to be truly admired, he added.

Palestinians have 'the highest respect' for Imam Khomeini, Musa reaffirmed.

He pointed out Iran remained the last defense line against western domination in the region since Imam Khomeini's 1979 revolution.

Musa made clear Iran played an important role in containing the western encroachment in the Mideast.
